An invitation to all AWCC Mountain Bikers

Wednesday 23rd July, 6:30pm, Clipsal showroom, North St.

The last AWCC meeting was held on the 07/07/08 and the major point of discussion was the impending MTB break away as discussed at previous MTB and AWCC meetings.

AWCC's greater committee is very keen to keep the AWCC intact with strong Road and MTB components. They believe that all MTB issues, as presented in the document to the AWCC, can be resolved. They also expect that a MTB sub-committee could run the MTB component of the club the same as they would a separate MTB club, and still benefit from being part of a larger body. To ensure MTB has a stronger and more formal voice within the AWCC they also propose that at least 2 MTBers join the AWCC management committee of 6. With these things considered they feel there is no need to break up the club. They believe that it would be mutually beneficial to remain together as one larger, stronger and more resourceful entity.

In light of this AWCC president Marcus Dwyer and V.P Murray Wallace would like to address club MTBers at the MTB meeting on Wednesday 23rd July.

Brad and I believe that though many MTBers may have made up their mind it would be wise to hear what Marcus and Murray have to say before the final steps of separation are taken. With the best of intentions Brad and I admit we are MTB community rather than AWCC bias. It has also been suggested (**not by an AWCC committee member**) that Brad and I have failed to properly represent club MTBers at AWCC meetings and the AWCC to club MTBers and that this has led to the breakdown of that relationship. In the interest of fairness and transparency for both MTBers and the AWCC we hope you take this opportunity to speak AND listen to Marcus and Murray, consider their opinion and voice yours.

We would encourage ALL club MTBers to attend. With AWCC management and as many MTBers as possible involved we can all be confident the right decisions are being made and be sure we are taking a collective step in the right MTB direction.

Marcus, Murray, Brad and I would all appreciate your participation in this and hope to see you on the 23rd.
